Notes |
- “Florene was born September 8, 1916, in Corsicana, Texas to Nick and Hattie Gries. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1934. She attended 11th Avenue Methodist Church. Her father was employed by Texaco Pipe Line. Among Florene's greatest loves in this life was Noel, her beloved husband of 40 years, her family, her many friends, and cooking. She was known far and wide for her pies. She was the perfect volunteer for Girl & Boy Scouts, PTAs, Missionary Society, Garden Club. Decora Study Club, Bronte, and Victoria Club House. Florene held all office positions and was a loyal attending member of each. Florene sang almost all the time. It did not seem to matter what she was doing, she enjoyed it so she rejoiced in song.” [1]
