Notes - “Mattaliene graduated from Eustace High School in 1937, and moved to Austin to attend Mayfair Taylor Business School and Daughns Business College. Mattaliene worked for the Texas Legislature and in the State Campaign headquarters. Mattaliene also worked at the Athens, Texas courthouse. During World War II Mattaliene worked as Secretary to the Colonel and other Doctors at Brooks General Hospital in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Mattaliene also enjoyed working for the Texas Department of Public welfare for 13 years and was an experienced writer in short-hand.
“Mattaliene married William Bryan Butler in Austin, Texas on March 23, 1964. Mr. and Mrs. Butler moved to Uvalde, Texas in 1971. Mattaliene attended the First Baptist Church of Uvalde and held office in the Eastern Star and other numerous civic organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Butler enjoyed countless trips to Merdano's Restaurant in Piedras Negras, Mexico.” [2]
