Notes:

James Burleson died on his labor (177 acres) on Buckner’s Creek in Fayette County, Texas. He moved to that land in 1847. A cedar house was built on the property. It was 35’ by 40’, two-story, built on “box style” with a stone chimney on one end. There were four rooms (two of which were downstairs), a gallery in the front, and the back“shed” rooms.

In the years before 1820, he was elected president of a group made up of citizens organized to rid the region of North Alabama of a gang of horse theives. This group has been referred to as the "first legislature."

Joseph and Elizabeth Burleson were charter members of Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Bastrop County, Texas on 29 May 1834.
