- “Mary Jo was born in Ottawa, IL, to Richard and Mary Ellen O'Donnell. After graduating from Serena High School (where she was crowned prom & homecoming queen), she started nursing school in Chicago. During training she met her husband, Marvin, they were married, and went on to have 5 children together, moving to Kansas City and joining Holy Cross Catholic Church in 1964. Growing up with 4 brothers, then having the opposite (4 girls & 1 boy), she was happiest surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors - and even happier cooking for everyone, which she did well and often.” [1]
