Notes - “Mrs. Vaughan and her late husband, J.A. Vaughan, operated the DeFuniak Springs Telephone Exchange and DeFuniak Hotel prior to his death. Mrs. Vaughan had made Florala her home for the past twenty years and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Florala.
“…she came to [Covington] county as a bride, first living at Dixon and then moving to Opp and Foley where she lived for many years. Her late husband was connected with the Miller Brent Lumber Company at Foley. After the mill closed its operation they moved to Opp where both their children were born. The family then moved from Opp to Pensacola, Fla., in 1912 and from there to DeFuniak Springs, Fla., in 1918 where they resided until 1936. After the death of her husband Mrs. Vaughan came to Florala to make her home with her sister. She was a loyal member of the Methodist Church for over seventy years and was active up until her health failed. She was a member of the local church when she passed away.” [5]
